First things first

Touring the park is not climbing the peak

A quad tour to Teide is a guided ride along the roads that climb into the national park and cross it, with stops at viewpoints. The listings that give an altitude reach about 2,100–2,400 m. The summit is at 3,715 m and cannot be reached by quad.

  • Cable car: none of the 17 listings includes it. It is a separate activity with its own booking.
  • Peak: the final stretch on foot to the summit needs a national park permit. No quad tour arranges it.
  • Entering the park: 12 listings say explicitly that they enter the national park; the other 5 talk of heading “towards Teide” or of views of it without saying so.

Access and departures

Where tours start and what they cost for two

Two main roads climb into the park: from the north, via La Orotava and the TF-21; from the west, via Chío and the TF-38, which meets the TF-21 at Boca Tauce. Tours from the south that detail their route climb via Vilaflor, also on the TF-21. What matters when choosing is where you are staying: a transfer, where offered, costs extra.

How to read the diagram

Each circle is a starting point; the number is how many Teide tours leave from there. El Roque (San Miguel de Abona) has the most, and Puerto de la Cruz is the only one in the north. Distances are indicative: the exact meeting point comes with your booking.

Staying on the south coast? The logistics (pickup, transfers and distance to each point) are in quad biking in the south. In the north? See quad tours from Puerto de la Cruz.

How the table is worked out: “2 people, 1 quad” is the per-quad rate, or the per-person rate times two, only if the listing takes a passenger. “1 person alone” only has a figure when the listing charges per quad or per group of one and sells a solo quad. Every case, tour by tour.

Teide tours by starting point: “from” price for one person alone and for two on one quad. Data from the listings as checked on 29 October 2026.

Time of day

Daytime or sunset: what changes on Teide

12 of the 17 run both in the daytime and in the evening; 2 are evening-only, 1 daytime-only and 2 do not say. The route is usually the same; what changes is the light, the cold and the ride back.

  • Daytime: more departure times to choose from and more light at the stops. Pick it if you want to see the volcanic landscape in detail.
  • At sunset: the sunset at over 2,000 m, with no guarantee of visibility. It is much colder up there and part of the ride back is in low light.

Surface

Road or track

Inside the park you ride on roads open to other traffic. 11 of the 17 listings say so explicitly; 5 do not specify the surface, and we do not credit them with tracks. The one that sells two routes (one to Teide and one in the north) only uses tracks on the northern route, which does not go up to Teide.

What the rules say

Inside Teide National Park traffic may use the TF-21, TF-24 and TF-38 roads freely. Driving on its tracks is banned except for emergencies, patrols, park management and guided routes run by the park itself (plus a few authorised cases such as research or access to private land). Driving off the authorised roads and tracks is not allowed.

Questions

Questions about quad tours on Teide

Does a quad tour to Teide go to the summit?

No. The listings that give an altitude reach about 2,100–2,400 m; the summit of Teide is at 3,715 m. Standing on it requires a national park permit for the final trail, and no quad tour includes it.

Is the Teide cable car included?

Not in any of the 17 listings we compare. One says so explicitly (it does not go to the summit, the crater or the cable car). If you want to ride the cable car, that is a separate activity and a separate booking.

Do you need a permit to ride into the park on a quad?

Not to ride its roads: the park plan allows free traffic on the TF-21, TF-24 and TF-38, and no listing asks for a separate permit. The permit is for walking up to the peak, not for touring the park.

Do you ride on dirt tracks inside the park?

No. Inside the national park the tracks are off limits except in specific cases, and 11 of these 17 listings say explicitly that they stay on the road. The track routes we compare run outside the park.

How long is a quad tour to Teide?

11 of the 17 last 3 hours; the rest between 2 and 4. That is the tour itself: if the listing has no transfer, add the trip to the starting point.
