Quad biking in south Tenerife: where each tour starts

15 of the tours we compare start in the south or west of the island, but not from the same place: some on the coast and others halfway up the mountain, and only one includes hotel pickup. Here they are grouped by starting point so you can pick the one that suits you.

  • 6 starting areas
  • 1 with pickup included
  • From €42 per person

Before the list

Where you stay, where you are picked up and where the quad starts

They are three different places, and it helps not to mix them up when comparing:

Where you stay

Usually on the coast: Los Cristianos, Las Américas, Costa Adeje, Golf del Sur… No tour sets off by quad from there, except the one in Playa de las Américas.

The pickup point

It only exists if the listing offers a transfer: included on one and optional, at extra cost, on two others. Each covers specific areas, shown in the table.

Where the quad starts

It is the operator’s base, where you sign in, get your helmet and the ride begins. In the south it is usually in the uplands, on the way to Teide.

Southern starting areas and the transfers their listings offer (29 October 2026).

No map on purpose: several listings only give an approximate pin and we will not plot a point we cannot check. The exact location is in each listing. What it costs alone or as a couple.

The climb

Which route they take to Teide from the south

The two listings that describe the route from the south coast agree: they climb through the pine forest belt and Vilaflor to Boca Tauce, at about 2,100 m inside the national park. One estimates about 70 km of riding and points out that it does not visit the summit, the crater or the cable car. From Chío, the listed itineraries pass viewpoints on the TF-38 such as Los Poleos and the Zapatilla de la Reina.

What the rules say

Inside Teide National Park traffic may use the TF-21, TF-24 and TF-38 roads freely. Driving on its tracks is banned except for emergencies, patrols, park management and guided routes run by the park itself (plus a few authorised cases such as research or access to private land). Driving off the authorised roads and tracks is not allowed.

Source: Management plan, Decree 182/2025 (BOC no. 240, 3 Dec 2025), sections 6.2.p and 6.3.1 (vehicle traffic and parking), read on 29 Oct 2026.

Before booking in the south

  • How you get there: apart from one with pickup included and two with an optional paid transfer, you make your own way to the start. Check the location in the listing.
  • When: some ask you to arrive 30 or 45 minutes early to check in.
  • Your physical licence card, and cash if there is a deposit (one asks for €100 per quad).

Requirements for each tour

One of the Chío tours can be combined with a jet ski ride from the port of San Miguel, about 35 km away according to its listing and with no transfer between the two. If that part interests you, jetski-tenerife.es compares jet ski departures.

If you are staying in Los Cristianos or Las Américas and would rather have an engine-free day at sea, Kayak Tenerife, another site by the same owner, compares trips for kayaking in Los Cristianos.

Questions

Questions about the south

Which quad tours pick you up from your hotel in the south?

Of the tours we compare, one includes pickup in Playa Paraíso, Costa Adeje, Las Américas, Los Cristianos, Costa del Silencio and Golf del Sur. Two others offer an optional transfer at extra cost: one from hotels between Los Cristianos and Playa Paraíso (no published price) and one between La Caleta and Las Chafiras for €6.67 per person. For the rest, the listing does not mention it or excludes it: plan to get there yourself.

Which starts closest to Las Américas or Los Cristianos?

One starts in Playa de las Américas and another in Arona. Those in Vilaflor, La Escalona and El Roque are higher up in the uplands; those in Chío are in the west, and one is in Granadilla de Abona. Travel time depends on where you are staying: check it on a map before you book.

Which route do they take to Teide from the south?

The two that give details from Arona and Las Américas climb through the pine forest belt and Vilaflor to Boca Tauce, at about 2,100 m inside the national park, on the road. One points out that it does not go to the summit, the crater or the cable car.

Do I need to arrive early?

Several listings ask for it, for check-in and the safety briefing: 30 minutes early on two and 45 minutes on two others. One warns that there is no refund if you are late.
