Quad tours from Puerto de la Cruz and the north of Tenerife

4 of the 23 quad tours we reviewed start in Puerto de la Cruz, and all 4 are run by the same operator, Click and Quads. That is what GetYourGuide currently offers from the north: two go up to Teide, one is a route with a track section and one lets you choose between the two.

Teide by day, Teide at sunset or the northern route with tracks

All four are run by the same operator, so what changes is the plan: the Teide route (by day or at sunset) and the northern route, which does not climb Teide. Each row shows which tours offer it.

The three northern options according to the listings (29 October 2026).

What differs between the four listings

  • One listing, two routes: “Teide or northern route by quad from Puerto de la Cruz” is booked the same way for Teide or the northern route; you pick the route as the option. The other three run a single plan.
  • Bad weather: the two single-plan Teide tours say that in rain or strong wind the tour is rescheduled or swapped for the northern off-road route.
  • Maximum age: 70 on two, 80 on the sunset one; the two-route listing does not say. Passengers from age 7 on all four.
  • What is included is almost the same: guide, helmet, snack and drink, photos and videos, and insurance. None includes hotel pickup.

Two routes

Teide or the northern route: the differences

To Teide, on the road

From Puerto de la Cruz the route climbs through the Orotava valley into the national park. Two listings describe it as a ride on the park roads, and the one that lets you choose says the Teide route is 100% on the road.

Inside the park you stay on the tarmac: its management plan requires it.

What the rules say

Inside Teide National Park traffic may use the TF-21, TF-24 and TF-38 roads freely. Driving on its tracks is banned except for emergencies, patrols, park management and guided routes run by the park itself (plus a few authorised cases such as research or access to private land). Driving off the authorised roads and tracks is not allowed.

Source: Management plan, Decree 182/2025 (BOC no. 240, 3 Dec 2025), sections 6.2.p and 6.3.1 (vehicle traffic and parking), read on 29 Oct 2026.

Northern route, with a track section

This is the option if you want dirt. One listing offers two routes and the Orotava valley one includes about 30 minutes off-road. Another is an off-road route in the north with viewpoints, through Los Realejos and La Orotava according to its description.

They do not detail how much of the ride is on tracks or exactly where it goes: ask the operator if that matters most to you.

Questions

Questions about the north

Is there hotel pickup from Puerto de la Cruz?

No. All four listings exclude hotel pickup and transfers: you make your own way to the meeting point in Puerto de la Cruz, which one listing says can vary with the option booked. The listings explain how to find it on Google Maps.

Does the northern route enter Teide National Park?

The listings do not say so. One describes a route through the Orotava valley with about 30 minutes off-road and another a route through Los Realejos and La Orotava. Inside the national park vehicles may only use the roads, so track sections have to be outside it.

Can I ride as a passenger without a licence?

Yes, as long as someone else in your group with a licence drives. On these four tours the passenger must be at least 7.

What if I am staying in the south?

The south has more departures, some with transfers from hotels between Los Cristianos and Playa Paraíso. See quad tours in the south.
